Dear Friends,

After nine years of dedicated service, including seven as Chair of Catholic Climate Covenant’s board of directors, we bid a grateful farewell to Scott Hurd in his leadership role and thank him for his contributions as a colleague and friend.

Taking his place, we are pleased to announce that the Covenant’s board has selected Sister Bridget Bearss as the new Chair.

Sr. Bridget, a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, brings formidable gifts. Her outstanding leadership is demonstrated in her position at the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), where she is the associate director for transformative justice. Prior to that, she was the executive director of the Stuart Center for Mission in Washington, D.C. In her many ministries over the years, including in schools where she was a teacher, principal, dean, and head of school, she became an accomplished educator, artist, writer, activist, and facilitator. Sr. Bridget holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Maryville University and a Master of Education degree in educational policies and leadership from Washington University.

Hear from Sister Bridget in this short clip taken from the Covenant’s May webinar.

As you can tell from the video above, Sister Bridget has lots of big and exciting plans for the Covenant at a crucial moment in our country’s and the Church’s history. To help us get these ideas in motion, we encourage you to consider making a gift to the Covenant in Sister Bridget’s honor and in honor of so many women religious, who have for decades helped lead the way on creation care efforts in the Church.

We’re so excited for what the future holds — and we’re thankful you’re here, working alongside us during this vibrant new chapter at the Covenant!

Sincerely,

Catholic Climate Covenant
