I write to you as a Catholic who cares deeply about God’s creation, our vulnerable brothers and sisters, and how we as a nation need to recover from the coronavirus pandemic and its accompanying economic and social disruptions. As we plan for recovery, we must ensure that all our communities are ready to recover in a just and sustainable manner. We need sustainable solutions for both people and for the climate. We must use this time to prepare for future disasters and crises by reducing our health risks and addressing the economic, racial, and health inequities that make recovery more challenging. I urge you to support just transition and recovery plans/policies that invest in a clean energy future, address environmental racism, and assist our vulnerable global neighbors. #FaithfulRecovery plans must: •	Transition away from fossil fuel dependence and support the expansion of clean energy, a solution that also creates well-paying jobs when our nation needs them most. •	Address health risks caused by air and water pollution and increase resilience to future disasters, an effort that could have an enormous impact on saving lives among COVID-19 patients, especially in Black, Latino and Indigenous, and Tribal Nations. •	Support our neighbors in developing countries in their response and recovery efforts by investing in sustainable foreign assistance that builds resilience and addresses poverty, inequality and climate change. I hope I can count on you to support these principles for a just recovery and that you will work to help the nation transition to a more just and sustainable future.
